Personally like when I get the background of the character bc it’s a see of why they are the way they are. It doesn’t excuse the jerk behavior however it’s an insight to a complex character. Now it’s just how they move forward both in healing from trauma and finally trying to understand each other without grazing over what happened.

Have some of y’all never read before ? This is very basic character development. Yes he was a dick in the beginning THAT WAS THE POINT now we get to see why he moved the way he moved and now how he will change going forward. Like do y’all just want him to stay the same the entire time
