Agreed, and at this point I don’t necessarily think it’s a matter of cultural differences, where Evelyn’s “American openness” drives her to be confident and Kanade is stereotypically “Japanese shy and conflict avoidant”. Evelyn is being so pushy it’s just uncomfortable and feels kinda socially inappropriate…
Ngl it bothers me too but I think it’s Evelyn’s own way of joking and being serious about her craft.
In their field, the students are both peers that can uplift each other but also competitors. Everyone takes it serious and wants to be in the next big role or to secure a scholarship. Joking about taking someone’s spot is a way to keep the competition a little light hearted
