She was the "ugly lady" because she had eating issues (got fat) due to stress of always being compared to her perfect sister. She has strong magical powers so her ugliness (fat) just gone poof! Now they realize she was not ugly (because she got skinny lol)
(Actually the story is good, just funny to me how they call her ugly just because she was fat and had pimples AND became instantly "pretty" because her fat just melted down lolol if only that was as easy)
