For a hot second I thought the author was going to try and push a new love triangle plot line. I don't care how annoying the top is, at the end of the day, we know him and the MC are end-game, so introducing a new male lead would have pissed me off and made me drop this. Love triangles are a big joke and a waste of time, useless cliche plot device to push the main pair together. We know he's not going 5o end up with the second lead anyways so instead of wasting time it's good to just pair the gangster up with the big brother and save us all the trouble.
