I get lost sometimes when these are thrown my way. Like.....because I dont like something means I lack the brain to critique it or??? Because its fiction means its invincible for critique??? Negative critics are hardly unfair. However there is a difference between criting a manga and just shitting on it. Saying that a manga is bad simply because of one a two little things is just shifting on it. The best way to tell is that often times people who are just criting the manga will add in compliments saying things like, “the noses weren’t very good but aside from that the art style was very nice” or “not a fan or public sex scenes. However the fact that the relationship is consensual made the scene better for me.”
Also, people are entitled to their own opinion and to express those opinions. Just as you have the right to tell me the things that irk you about some commenters, those commenters have the right to express their thoughts about whatever it is they are reading.
A manga artist who never receives negative critics will never improve is what I believe.

Nope. I’m not sure where you live but I know that at least in the US. Child porn, whether it is depicted as a cartoon or otherwise, is a punishable offense. It is still illegal.

I don’t really know. Loli and shotas are in a really gray area. While they aren’t REAL children they are purposefully drawn to act and look as reflections of kids. I wouldn’t call somebody a pedo just for enjoying those types of stories or characters, but there are lines that we shouldn’t cross and it is good to call them out.

That I suppose is sort of a gray area. While I wouldn’t call them a pedo things are slightly different under law. The law doesn’t consider the context of the story, if the content itself appears to have a minor, whether they are truly a minor or not, it is punishable.

Not really, your taste in fiction doesn't means nothing about your morals. Lolis/shotas don't look nothing like real children, they're completely different. As Stephen King is not a serial killer because of his horror stories, Harada isn't a pedo because of nii-chan. If you can see the difference between fiction and reality, then there's nothing to stop you from consuming the most problematic fiction in the world. And if you had the bad luck to being exposed to real child porn, you would see how is totally different from loli/shota mangas, it can easily traumatize someone.

I stated in my previous reply that liking that kind of stuff doesn’t automatically make you a pedophile, hence the “gray area”. We cannot feign ignorance though and act like the lolicon/shotacon genre does not cater to people with that kind of paraphilia though, which is why certain stories NEED to be called out whether it be fictional or otherwise. STephen King is not a murderer nor Harada a pedophile because both of these authors do not romanticise their twisted storyline’s and show the horrors. While there is a difference between fiction and reality, it is proven that consuming a lot of a certain fictional media can desensitise you to it. We must be careful with what we read, and be cautious when it comes to things that can put minors in danger :3

Sorry, I don’t really like arguing, especially about legal matters. At the end of the day neither of us are a lawyer (unless you are). We both have our understadings and I would rather not end the conversation on the wrong note, with either of us pissing each other off. I’ve seen topics like this lead to a lot of drama or toxicity that I don’t want to accidentally start or get into. I hope that makes sense?

I will always believe that a person is free to read something even if they don’t like it. Though it’s mostly a problem when people just don’t like one little aspect of something. When they express the fact that they didn’t like that certain point people often tell the “Don’t like, don’t read” which I don’t believe is fair in anyway. Yeah, it’s tough seeing something you like get a little hate but it’s something you’ve gotta live with. (And I use this argument a lot against people who comment “don’t like don’t read” if you didn’t like the comment, just don’t read it.) I understand that doesn’t work for all comments.
I don’t know if it’s the same for anyone else, but me personally, I have a habit of reading/watching things even though I despise them lol. It’s why I read so many manga that I hate.
