I think you should read it a little to decide for yourself. But the impression I got was that they just healed each other's childhood trauma? The way the story is told, it feels as if it really had to be this way. It matters what kind of mindset you go with, I think. I read it sometime ago and in my notes I've mostly positive feelings about it. Hope this helps!

i understand why you might find it uncomfortable or weird. just a bit of an insight/warning: majority of the story hangyeul is in a kid's body but aside from the fact that he's mentally 21, taehyuk saw him as a child and treated him as such. (another spoiler warning!!) it was only until taehyuk himself travels to the future and sees a 21-yr hangyeul did he see hangyeul as a possible romantic interest (citing hangyeul's face as his type. and when he comes back to his timeline, he imagines the 21y/o hangyeul during moments when he's moved by whatever hangyeul did). this is why i think the gradual romance work. it wasn't really romantic at first. even hangyuel understood they couldn't be together with him in a kid's body but he was just happy to be besides taehyuk. taehyuk slowly grew closer to hangyuel bc he helped him change his perspective in life which in turn helped him have courage to change hisnlife for the better. hangyeul becomes important to taehyuk bc of this and not bc of romance or anything dirty. and taehyuk even waits for hangyuel to become an adult before actually flirting with him.

this is just my thoughts. it's a really good read but i understand if you still find it uncomfortable. (but if you do read it, lmk what u thought!)
