Both of them are toxic as hell, but I won't lie their writing does have layers. Twin 1 is honestly gross, he basically raised him and called him his father or little brother, and thinks he's the only one who has the right to "use" him bcz he conveniently "found" him at the right time. You save a child from certain death and all u could think abt is that you have rights to him now? Delusional asf and he rlly thinks hae geum would be so innocent and naive to not give af abt the whole wedding. It's so annoying how he just can't understand why he's so bothered. But at the very least he does have genuine care for hae geum, in his own groomy controlling gross way. Twin 2 meanwhile does not have genuine care, and is only desperate for a compatible guide. But we see that's starting to change somewhat bro's deffo going to go thru the "wait do I actually like him? No I'm just using him" arc soon. In the end THEY'RE BOTH USING THIS POOR KID WHO DOESN'T KNOW ANY BETTER CUZ HE LOST HIS MEMORIES AND HAS BEEN SHELTERED. Twin 2 uses this against him by taking him outside a lot to show him the real world and get away from Twin 1. But I'm kinda fascinated at how they're both so aware of their shitty actions. I remember first reading this at 14 and finally finishing this at 20. Listen, by all means, this is still a rapeslop and even if they get their happy ending it doesn't change the fact that karino (and eno) is still a fucking rapist. But i do understand the story's point of being a critique of society's social hierarchy that is usually chosen from the beginning and how lower class people have to cope with it and shit. And how your upbringing affects your personality and all that. But my god is it messed up. Luckily I like dark toxic shit and azusa is as beautiful as I remembered lmfao.
