I read the spoiler somewhere that the prince didn’t really left jieun to die, he go to somewhere(I don’t remember where)in order to protect jieun and her baby but got killed,, jieun is clueless of this and thought that he left her then she get killed by duke jenna, but the baby is still alive so duke jenna be the baby guardian and that’s when the empire start to downfall

btw jieun and the prince doesn’t even love each other in the beginning (jieun just feel safe near him obv because he’s the prince)but then i guess she fall in love with him but he does not love her? Oh and also it’s true that he keep comparing jieun to tia after tia’s death but it is just because jieun is too incompetent and kinda stupid (he send the best tutor for her to study and become a proper empress but she couldn’t do it and instead keep whining that it’s hard) and yeah ruve is too tired and always angry because he need to do all the work including the empress’s work.

Oh and also do you know that jieun drug ruve and force herself on him, he never touch her. Ruve get angry but decide to just let it go. Jieun play a gamble and yeah she got pregnant. She use the baby to keep hold on ruve. The pregnancy make it harder for him (to protect the throne from duke jenna i suppose)but he can’t do anything to her because he reminded of tia and their unborn child. He felt regret (and i think all this time he just want love but you know tia is kinda emotionless in the first timeline, he kinda hate her but also not realised that he love her haha)
