I agree that she’s wrong for abandoning him, which i think they’ll make up some excuse for it later that ends up as she did it to protect him. However, does she really earn good money?Legally, the mc is the next of kin and the only thing he has to inherit is the building, which he can’t even have till he defeats the arena. There’s no mention of any money nor other properties in the mother’s name. The school’s account can barely cover the upkeep of the world tree and the school. The majority of the expensive tuition goes to the upkeep of the world tree. It was also explained that the expensive items on display aren’t just luxury, they’re there to protect the school and the children. If u look closely, the mother does not have anything to herself, even the school doesn’t seem to be really “hers” in a monetary sense. So does she really earn good money?

In addition, the Mc only earns good money because of the system rewards from the arena but the mother does not have the same oppression because it only opens like once in a hundred years or so. While she may be out there defeating yokais and getting magic stones, it can barely cover for the upkeep of everything (world tree, school maintenance, protective items, food, etc.) I’m guessing there’s gonna be a reveal that she knew her son is gonna be chosen by the arena and she set this all up, so the mc can have a better chance at survival.
