This actually adds a lot of context to Fumiko’s Character. The AIDs epidemic was super prevalent in the 80’s-90’s with people dying everyday with no solution and this caused a lot of tension and fear. I really like that Fujimoto is putting emphasis on the fact that Sex is also a form of power and control especially with the way Denji’s hyper sexuality is going full force.
