Genuinely, it feels like the demographic of ppl who mainly consume Yaoi mangas and Yaoi manhwas is completely different at times
Personally, I used to love manhwas when I was younger, and I definitely put up with a lot of bad writing and tropes I wouldn’t tolerate now. I mainly still consume manga/manhwa for entertainment, but sometimes that tiny part of my brain can’t help but look at stories at a more critical angle.
I noticed that a lot of manhwas I read recently (not all, of course) have mediocre writing at best. Since these series are usually longer and released over time, I often find myself investing a lot, only to feel disappointed.
I’m so confused when I see such high ratings. It feels like many readers of manhwas are more willing to overlook flaws, while mangas get picked apart more critically. Makes me wonder if the demographic is just fundamentally different now.
