I didn't read the novel... but I feel like he was horribly verbally abusive and cruel.. controlling. But remind me if I'm wrong, he never was physical with her and he was hateful, but also tried to have things the way she liked? Am I wrong? If I'm not, and that is NOT ok, but I have read WAY worse abusive stories where there is some kind of redemption arc. To be honest, had to quit reading those, it's just black clouds filling up my brain, but this one didn't last long and he said a lot of mean things, but I feel that is the worst of it.
