I have nothing against the plot of this volume but it makes me sad that it’s the last volume and Kabu and Onoe are not the main focus. First of all I’d rather have many more volumes of them and now knowing it’s the end this plot feels like a waste to me and too similar to the Kabu and his sister plot. There won’t be many chapters left will they even redirect the focus back to our couple before this is over if we’re going to just have a normal volume with no real closure for our couple can we have another volume dedicated to them living together and going on an overseas trip or showing domestic life more or having some more serious moments again between the two of them

I totally agree. I wanted to see Kaburagi confronting his family and after that whatever happens Onoe would emphatize with him better and Kabu will leave that part of his life behind and they’d have a stronger relationship knowing each other’s background. Even if that didn’t happen, they might take a long break from work like you said. Hope we can read extras like that

OOOh I love your suggestion that is a perfect farewell volume Kanu confronting his trauma and working through it with his lovely partner Onoe and them understanding each other better through it. And yes extras of them on a long trip together my heart would be so a satisfied with that I could accept this story is ending. It frustrates me because the author wrote this story and these characters so well and consistently even though it’s been years and I don’t want to let it go. I’ve reread this countless times and actually the most recent reads I was thinking Kabu could still be sweeter to Onoe he’s a great partner to him but he still more teases Onoe than saying his true feelings for him that often that Onoe is still so shy when he is sweet and if they overcome his trauma of abandonment maybe they’d have some more sweet moments / he would open up more and be more comfortable being vulnerable and expressing his feelings to Onoe? Where do we message the author lol

But, to be really fair, neither Kabu or the sister actually care about their family, they both always looked already independent, their family just seem distant and kind of uncaring of what the children do, I doubt is even seen as a "problem" or a trauma anymore, so, Kabu talking to them makes no sense or difference really, he barely even interacts with his sister who is a decent person, I think they are just fine with it, I'll rather see a family outing with Onoe's parents and Kabu as their official in law xd. Than a drama that more or less already happened between actual family members who cared for each other (Kabu and his sister).
I also miss the Hostess that liked to tease Kabu and Onoe, I hoped to see them all again before the finale.

I get you. This is my favourite mangaka and Ameiro Paradox is my favorite manga. It’s been years and I still love to see how their relationship progress. And. yeah, he needs to soften up more. I mean even we as readers only get to see how much he loves him when Kasai threatens to snatch Onoe or smth. I tried twitter by the way but she doesn’t write a reply to people she don’t know I guess https://x.com/isakuna?lang=en

Sure, they look like they got their life together but no matter what age you are family affects your life even if you never see them. Remember previous episodes when Kabu didn’t know how a real family works? Anyways they don’t have to but if it’s gonna be the last volume it has to be morr impactful. Not about other people as she said

wait this is the last one? can you link me to where that was said?
also I haven't checked raws if there's any but every volume that "focused on someone else" ultimately went back and related to their problems so unless you've read the raws I wouldn't worry too much. like nori and kasai arcs weren't totally about them but contributed to their growth as a couple regardless

She tweeted this and people are saying their goodbyes ╥﹏╥

I guess you have a point. They might turn the spotlight to Kabu after this example of family broken apart

Thank you dear for the positivity! I would usually be fine with that I’d be okay with volumes exploring all the side characters to come back to kabuono, just knowing it’s the last one makes me sad and disappointed it’s not a volume fully focusing on them. It’s already been three chapters and there have only been small moments of our couple. If it’s farewell I want a depth filled volume farewell. But it is what it is it’s already complete. Confirmed by Alkmeme and for me knowing I just saw in comments ppl said author confirmed

i just checked, the final volume IS volume 8, not this volume. you can see if you look at their tweets https://x.com/isakuna/status/1928333082328977685?s=46&t=4RMhKfjoJecVhB8l90qjcw

Read the novel it’s so well written. It gives so much nuance and color to the characters emotions and stories. I don’t think this comic is complete unless you read the novel. I still disagree deeply with this part and grapple with that but it is fantastic writing and storytelling very three dimensional characters that feel like real people and so smartly written with depth in all aspects characters and plot. If the assault/noncon is too much I highly recommend you read the Turning novel instead no toxicity whatsoever healthiest couple in BL history with the deepest love story I’ve been blessed to get to read

I feel the exact same way! It’s a beautiful story, but I do have to skip over this scene in my rereads it’s such a shame too because it really doesn’t add anything to the story I feel like the author was good enough to get to that conversation without it but I try not to let it sour my feelings. And thank you so much for the recs I’ll give you one of my own DASH the swimming one not the others the novel for it is superb I think an official is coming out so the fan translation is temporarily down but it should be coming out soon

I so agree there’s many other ways the author could have gotten to that conversation without alienating viewers who have uphold ethics for characters they root for and are invested in. They made such a beautiful story to spoil all that development with something damaging but I do still also appreciate the strong writing and the emotions the characters evoked for me I fell for the story so quickly. Thank you for the recommendation I’ve run out of novels I’ll have to read it!!

It became nonconsensual and it’s more fleshed out in the novel they also shouldn’t have cut the chapter there and also they should have given him more expression when apologizing he was way more emotional when he said he was scared in the novel REGARDLESS it was an awful read and did ruin it I’m in denial because the story was really well written otherwise such well written obsession of two unique well fleshed out individuals and not your everyday type of love story but there’s no forgiving his actions and lack of accountability in future chapters they kind of move on maybe with the tacit understanding he can’t do that again but it did ruin a great story for me really wish that part never happened. It did seem kind of real life as obsession/jealousy/anger can turn to violence but he should have gotten counseling to be a better partner and spent much more time actively reflecting on his behavior. Or they just didn’t have to write that storyline

you've written everything so perfectly. its literally so upsetting—it felt like it came out of nowhere too from how seheon was written as a character before this scene it felt out of character and place from him :/ im genuinely gna pretend this shit never happened in order to continue this with a sour taste in my mouth...

Awww thank you that’s so sweet of you and yeah the writing is top notch in the novel love how they developed the characters to how they fleshed out the legal/work aspect of the story. I was really impressed with the writer’s knowledge and how detailed the characters were we got to really understand them and their nuances.
I’m trying to think in simple sense the author was once again trying to portray how the top is doing everything out of character and going past the point of no return in evidence of how much he is obsessed with and loves the uke (biggest example is sacrificing everything he built in his career/life for the uke and what odds he would go to do everything for him) as in the chapter when he’s remorseful and saying he’s scared he didn’t know he could feel this way or behave this way BUT DIDN’T EVEN USE THE WORD SORRY but this was NOT the route I wanted the author to present and I don’t want to believe he would behave this way either he protected the uke in every way (aside from verbally lol) before this so it’s a real shame to a would be masterpiece. Okay him slamming the uke against the bookcase early on in the story may be evidence but I was assuming that was more passion and recklessness and kinkiness :(

It’s a link!

i completely agree with you on everything! i haven't read the novel yet but from how even the manhwa was written so far there's no doubt the novel as the original source is even better. like you said, its most certainly the author tried to express how the uke has been a constant outlier in the seme's life, but unfortunately kr authors can hardly ever create a work devoid of noncon. "beyond the memories" is another example of an incredibly well-written novel in terms of the ml's character development, redemption and grovelling, but the truth revealed at the end leaves a sour taste in your mouth after crying for multiple chapters :(
Seunghyeon is SUCH a great partner and person he’s thoughtful, compassionate, loyal, strong, positive, charismatic, selfless, loving. I get amazed with every new chapter I appreciate the author’s consistency on writing him. I know there are a lot of good guys in the Yaoi universe not just him but he’s written so nicely I’m very fond of his character type and it feels like a real to life kind of a person
