She doesn't seem like a person greedy for power. She just wants to be loved and be with people who care about her. Jake probably never confessed but the ML has made his feelings quite clear. I think the main story of her dad assuming power would make her happy had to be subverted. If she became queen and was happy he would just be like see...I was right.
