Also, what other warning could be a bigger warning to the MC that Oga Helbert himself? The maniac is a walking red flag with an angry bull charging towards it. If MC didn't realise that, I don't think Maria's shallow words would be much help. I'm just against her because she lied about something, and now it's hard to believe anything else she said is honest.

The author did a great job of not sexualizing this series as much as possible even though Haru's job is a brothel worker, they made it pretty realistic and focus on how the sex worker job is serious just like any other job and the people who works like this are humans too (i love Haru's personality and how well she is written. Also i bawled my eyes out like theres no tommorow after what happemd Shequaraso)

It’d be less interesting to see a manga adaptation of a series that’s already nearing its wave trials tbh since there’s nothing new to be said, so I really think this is a great breathe of fresh air ^^

But not in a bad way, like oh shes such a "emotionless sociopath" but more of medical diagnosis? She can still feel pity and sadness even happiness and satisfaction but she clearly lacks empathy and guilt, i theorized this when reading and how she doesn't feel bad for chan-hee being bullied before and instead wanting to be left out of trouble (not even a poor him) and only feeling pity for him when she actually interacted with Lua and intervened, she might think that she feels empathy towards him but instead its more of a twisted sense of justice to be wanting to avenge him but when you think about it its more of her wanting to punish someone who deservesit because they are bad. Her tendencies are more likely fueled by her mother enabling this sort of behavior by making her "act" and her learning how she can manipulate others (even her father) with acting. Though i still think she can change for the better and learn to be genuinely kind, her views on people especially to whom she considers bad and her powers might give her a hard time.
yeah I getchu, I'm a psych major interested in personality disorders and that's how I feel as well, although I'd say she's more psychopathic than sociopathic since sociopathy is genetics + environment (and with the current known backstory, I'd say it's unlikely for to have developed sociopathy), while psychopathy is genetics (eg; someone can be born a psychopath but can't be born a sociopath) ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶
I mention unlikely bc usually sociopathy is developed in an environment that the body starts to develop a lack of guilt or empathy either due to convenience such as stereotypical rich billionaires may find it more convenient in their lives to abandon empathetic feelings so they can fuel their own ego, or as a coping mechanism, a person who's been abused as a child stops feeling guilt towards people to protect themselves, etc etc etc, insert many other ways someone can become a sociopath
I also agree with your last sentence, I'm rlly hoping there's redemption for her- cause it's like, even if psychopaths and sociopaths have a hard time feeling guilt + empathy, there's been psych studies showing that psychopaths/sociopaths can do so with intentional practice (also even if she never gets to the point of being able to experience empathy in the comic, I rlly hope she can learn a more diverse set of values :,D cause she's very much going down the death note route, and we all know Kira did not end up too happy at the end)
