The logic sometimes really makes me laugh. For example at the end, in the specials, when Siyeon gets sick (or if anyone in any romance ever gets sick) they have some stupid thought process for why they don't tell they're significant other. Wdym he was embarrassed about getting a cold? literally everyone gets a cold. Like cmon guys. You've been dating a year. If you get a goddamn cold, why not call them and tell them (especially on christmas)? Every one I've dated, if they were sick, would call me to come over and help em and vice versa. Isn't it just as cute to ask to be taken care of? Anyways, its just always been a plot device I have found silly. But I suppose itd miss it if it wasnt there! lol.
What drives your preference for one over the other (manhwas, mangas, webtoons, manhuas)? is it just the art style? but i feel like nowadays they are all varied in art style. peoples' distaste for manhua lowk feels like xenophobia sometimes. just curious everyone's thoughts.
I love mangas and prefer mangas for the plot but I ain't gonna lie I enjoy reading manhwas because the layout is easier to read. You just have to scroll. Mangas have multiple frames per page and sometimes I wish I don't have to zoom the screen to view each frame and read the dialogue.

I love them all but I prefer the format of manga. Like it's convenient, I don't have to scroll a lot to see one panel if that makes sense.
And as for the manhua... it can also be because of poor translations. After all, Chinese is the hardest (out of the 3) to translate, imo. This is why I prefer reading the novels instead.
if im honest manhuas get flamed a lot but i dont think its due to xenophobia, its mainly due to the historically poor translations they get and the fact the ones that do get machine translated tend to follow the exact same plot.( with BL specifically i find they tend to have a lot of ML leaves mc and regret plot but with barely any good redemption) but as i said it all derives from ---> poor machine transalation due to lack of officials in english and the fact its not easily accessible ----> the censorship that prohibits a lot of smutty stuff that people prefer manhwa for . and im only saying its not xenophobia because have you seen danmei??? haha the written novels have the biggest fandoms ever like EVER (mdzs) and the manhua actually end up getting good translations due to the hype and the massive audience however from what i gather authors do face persecution because they dont censor smut in the novels when they post them which is sadly something they can be jailed for
I generally prefer mangas because they're usually less drawn-out. I guess since most stories are published in a per-volume format, it's more of a commitment to drag on the story or something?? Idk the reason why but it's just a trend I've noticed. This obv excludes stories published weekly in magazines like Jump, they drag shit ON (50 chapters for one fight scene..... looking at you jjk). Also I like black and white art more than colored art. Something about it just makes everything pop more.
Also, I personally dislike manhuas though bc the censorship is often very heavy (like no gay kissing without a sticker over it on most official sites). Also, women in manhuas rarely pass the bechdel test and become reliant on male characters. So many good female leads lost to this.... Maybe it's changed tho. I've read one manhua since like 2020 bc of this.

They call this a romance? Yeah right! SA is used waaaaaaaaay too much as a plot device to call this romance. The comments made it sound cutesy. It is NOT. The ml is getting fucking traumatized every chapter. The lover interest is just SO mean, boring, and stiff. They do not have any chemistry what so ever. Go ahead and dislike my comment, this is my truth. How do people REREAD this. Good lord.

And I want to correct, I’m not romanticising SA, I actually don’t give two fucks about it cause that’s not even the main point of the story. He’s not getting SA’ed by the debt collector every chapter, and I’m more focused on the top’s redemption arch when he realises what he’s lost, as well as how bot makes his way up from rock bottom with all his debts and how he’s finally happy with top. This is literally a fiction, I don’t care. There are many stories about people falling in love with stalkers / murderers etc. yet some people enjoy them. Why? Cause it’s fiction. It’s not reality. If you can’t separate the two go get a life and touch some grass
I feel like things got a bit out of hand here. Yes, I coulda made my points separate and more clear . . . but it's just a comment on a porn bl on an illegal site. To be clear, I don't think this manhwa (and certainly not you) are "romanticizing" SA. The story's author merely has poor romance writing capabilities. Yes: The "romance" didn't hit for me. The lead was a mean hard ass with nothing in his personality to contrast it. And yes: the SA and abuse were used as a plot device to accelerate/hinder the leads relationship, though it wasn't "every chapter" (which was obviously hyperbole). I do owe an apology to you and other enjoyers of this manga! It was rude to shame others in my comment. I know very well that people are free to enjoy what they want for whatever reason. **Any discourse about representation of SA in media is important to have. It's not woke to have an opinion, express it, and talk about it.**
Welp.. this was a wholesome reply that I didn’t not expect.. I would also like to apologise because I got too heated and gave quite a trashy reply. I do understand that certain people are not comfortable with certain plot devices. And you’re absolutely right about the lead (I hope you mean the top). Initially I persisted because I wanted to see the bot happy, but somehow I ended up really liking it towards the end. I’ve re-read this too many times to count cause I really like the bot. I also thought maybe I just got too used to BL’s toxic side since a lot of good ones always has some SA and non-con to the point that it seems part of motion to me, but I can’t say the same for others .-.
