My theory is maybe glasses guy is more shady than new guy made him out to be. Maybe glasses deliberately stopped his tape for some reason and is pretending not to know anything? If that's the case, since he's the only one who knows the NPC benefit, maybe only one NPC can use the benefit at the end?
Theory 2 is that the ML totally just dug up the tape from where they hid it and tried to sabotage him so the game will just be him and MC again. Which not gonna lie would be funny.
