Im sorry but it’s just so weird how he’s clearly in love with her but he calls her older sister…

Well it's translates. Originally it's 'Noona' which, in Korea, means an older sister and it's typically a polite way to address a female who is older. It just translates weird in English because our culture and language are different. Just think of it as him addressing her presence in a polite/formal matter

From what I was able to read (this series makes my brain a little numb), he only really calls her that because he recognises that her self-esteem issues are so low that he’ll scare her off if he doesn’t consider her family, which he has already done. She took him not calling her sister so badly she ran off blindy into the woods in a thunderstorm.

Of course, that was when they were still essentially kids (her at 14 and him at 12), but I think that’s still traumatic enough for him.

He calls her sister but he’s just humouring her because he doesn’t want her to leave. If she still won’t recognise him as a potential romantic partner, he’ll at least use the family tag to keep her at his side since she clearly values it so much. Is this just a short-term bandage solution for what he wants? Yes, but it was all he had at the moment since he decided to use the term back when he hadn’t inherited the power of the house yet.
