Kinard has lived for revenge after the murder of a family he was closed to ten years ago. Despite his longtime friend Raman's worries for him, he and Yesing hid their identities under the alias, "chaff", and strived for revenge. In doing so, he runs into Alvin, the little boy who he thought had died all those years ago.
After saving Alvin, he notices that he's changed dramatically from the happy little boy he remembers. He'd clearly been sexually abused and has regressed, only trusting Kinard.
