What a shitty mother. (Might be overreacting but still) To put it into perspective, Chizu is being raised mainly by Oosawa, and only stays with her mother during weekends, not an uncommon thing.
However, the issue is that she suddenly wants to take FULL custody of Chizu after she gets remarried, and to do so, she gaslight Oosawa into feeling like an incompetent father, despite the fact that he has been raising her to the best of his abilities. (Disregarding the fact that he didn't seem to have a good support network in the case something happened to him or Chizu, but that does change once he gets closer to Yoshiaka.)
She then proceeds to not be able to pay attention or care for Chizu once she has another child, and fails to properly listen to or attempt to understand what actually happened to cause Chizu to push him. For example, if my younger brothers were to start screaming at crying at each other, and I don't know what's going on, I'd have to ask each of them individually to get an understanding of what happened, why and how to make sure it doesn't happen again. That is NOT what the mother does though.
She lacks the ability to care for more than one child, and because I don't know how Chizu would spend her weekends, I can't judge whether or not she was a good mother BEFORE the introduction of her 2nd child. However, I can probably assume she wasn't too good at it since she was so quick to neglect Chizu's needs over the span of a couple days.
Also, just to be fair, Oosawa was partially at fault too when it came of Chizu running away, because when children are introduced to new family, especially in situations where their parents are split up, they should be given time to get slowly accustomed to the new family. Chizu was just suddenly thrown into a situation where she most likely felt like Oosawa had randomly abandoned her, and the felt worse by not receiving proper love from her mother.
Jesus, I didn't realise how long I made this, sorry
I love the art sm, I hope one day the artist draws an actual healthy couple one day, even if it's a short story
