Answering from south america, but for me it wasn't TOO hard. I got a job at my last year of college, then moved onto a bigger company and have been working there (on and off) for almost a year.
The most I spent job-hunting was four months. However, I've seen people go jobless for a year. It really depends.
I recommend Linkedin, not on the "jobs"......
