Try Spice and Wolf, it's fantasy but it deals with medieval trading (one of the main character is a merchant) and talks a lot about business and it has a little bit of romance :)

Why do I feel like the story is going to go: mc raises ml until 10 ish before teenage years, terrorist incident (ml loses control and Mc takes the blame?), MC is imprisoned and loses custody to the state, ml somehow loses memories of mc raising him, and when they meet again years later they end up having the relationship we see in the first chapter where mc is running away.
Going to let this marinate, and I'll leave this here to see if I'm even remotely correct. Maybe 1 year?
