Everyone is such an asshole to naho and the reason why this story doesn’t work is because the mc went from someone who was self confident with themselves and happy to someone who is insecure and always seems to have a veil of self loathing to them. It feels like character regression. He wasn’t even bothering people before, and even if he had “unchecked ego” (which he didn’t) who cares? Nao deserves someone better than a possessive asshole
No longer here for the bl. Just here to see how naho's character will progress. Or regress, lol. As someone who also went from thinking "I'm cute" to "I'm average at my best, ugly at my normal(?)", seeing naho's self-deprecating thoughts is strangely comforting. Idk, ig misery does love company lol

Insecurity is a bitch and i hope you can see yourself as cute again in the future, I’m sure you’re not ugly at all and I hope Naho comes to the same conclusion without needing to be validated by Kana and the jerks around him

Rather than chara regression, I honestly see it as him maturing in a way.
It's painful, but at some point, he really does need to know he isn't exactly the cutest of them all (conventionally speaking ofc; his personality still makes him a cutie - & that's somewhat subjective) and that is perfectly OK.
Now, as he matures, he'll slowly learn to find his confidence that isn't based on how people perceive him (w/c, in the long run, is better than his og source of confidence)
