This is apparently a controversial opinion but I feel bad for Raymond and I don’t think the author should have gone with the regret path. His actions in the past weren’t bad. Why? BECAUSE AGNES WAS HARASSING HIM!!
Imagine living your life not knowing peace cause the princess of the country wants you. He rejects her constantly and he’s completely justified to do that. Why? BECAUSE HE DOESN’T WANT HER AND THATS FINE, HE SHOULDN’T HAVE TO. Not everyone has to have feelings for the female lead. And frankly, he’s not even trash! He could be treating her soooo much worse but he doesn’t. He really only talks bad about her and who doesn’t talk bad about someone they don’t like, especially someone who’s harassing them?
I don’t think he should have to suffer because he didn’t like her in the past. He holds no obligations to her and I hate that he’s trying to take another look at his past through this regretful lens. I think it’s stupid.
I don’t think it’s about not appreciating what you could have had because Agnes wasn’t good to him. Yes, they were friends when they were kids but we can see that even then she was too forceful with him. She’s never understood boundaries and I understood she had her own stuff to deal with but so did he. I don’t think he was justified to blame her for his mom’s death but grief does crazy things to you, so I get it.
I’ll stop here but I think everyone who thinks he deserves the regret he’s getting is looking at it from a very shallow perspective and I hope he heals honestly.
