Kyle has the purest intentions despite his mother’s disapproval. Kyle is a green flag while Mathias is a beautiful red flag. Mathias is a spoiled noble who has everything but Leila. At the end of this chapter it’s clear he will not extend his military service. It is his first act of rebellion to go against expectations.
