i can't tell if it's a TL error but is the step-mother pretending to be a woman?? the emperor addressed her as "sir cornelia".. not that it matters but I'm just kind of confused LOL

Nah, she's a woman. The honorifics often get switched up, esp with MTLs like these.

"Sir" is usually used for male knights, but in some translations (sometimes deliberate in some officials, often a mistranslation from a lack of care in MTLs) they also get used for women, especially if there are female knights in stories.

Some use Dame for female knights instead, but this too seems to depend on the translation. Some officials use it, some don't.

Then sometimes, what could be translated as "Sir" in English, is often also translated to "Lord/Lady" instead. You see it in the translations of this series too, it's not that consistent, sometimes they get called sirs, sometimes lords, sometimes ladies. I don't speak Korean so idk what the og honorific they use is, this is just something I've picked up from reading so many of these - esp the ones w shit translations ╮( ̄▽ ̄)╭

Tbh I rather see female knights get called sirs alongside male knights over only the male knights getting called sirs and the female knights still have to be called ladies/miss. Tho if the story calls both female/male knights lady/lord, it's not that bad for me.

thank you so much for the clarification in the earlier chapters they did use dame and sir to differentiate between male and female knights but i guess whoever picked up the translation just stopped doing that lol. good to know, though! ^_^
