The author is doing a great job if their goal was to make the readers think Valery was right in letting Asil behind and that Asil is only a fool who can't take care of himself, needing a shi** ML to keep an eye on him to make sure his butt is safe.
All of this doesn't prove Valery's point, in fact it was Valery's fault that Asil became what he is at this point: a pitiful person who can't think straight and isn't capable of taking smart actions after all the abuse he suffered.
I'm dropping this because I already know where the author want to reach. It's a shame, because I was invested in the history and I thought Valery was going to realize he was being a bitch at some point, but instead the author choose to blame the victim and they're trying to make us think the black flag ML was right all the time (yeah, Asil is annoying, but he's still the victim here).
Sorry for the long comment, but I needed to blurt out. It's quite some time since a history made me this angry
