Uh essentially they go in this back and forth (talking) ML tries to grab mc but the stone the mc has raised a protective shield that only activates if the user feels like this is a life and death situation

This makes the ml freeze and he's like fuck I gotta calm down and solve this

Then boom scary gate opens

ML is like bro if I beat this gate rn can we actually talk about everything

Mc is like damn...I guess yeah

ML defeats this gate that has like poison and hallucinations ( the main monster was able to mimic MC's voice) anyways ML defeats gate rushes back out

Mc is gone , ml's heart is racing he's like where tf is mc

The old man is like he went into the gate saying he couldn't take living like this anymore

ML rushes back into the gate tryna find mc only to find his bag

Then it switches pov to Mc and talks about his past with Dietrich ( the esper who imprinted on him) and how abusive and toxic the relationship was and how he was guilted into staying with him cause he believes it's his fault Dietrich brother died cause he was scared of guiding him in an intense situation

Mind you that scene happened when the mc was 15...and Dietrich imprinted on him when he was 15 and kept him ignorant of how shit works in the real world forcefully confining him in the house

This is just a brief summary over where I got up to in the novel from chapter 120 to 129
