What do you expect? That would roughly be, how things would go in reality, if such a thing like a zombie apocalypse (or just any apocalypse period) were to happen. Lots of people are pretty terrible, if given the chance and if there are no consequences to stop them from doing what they want. And the (few) people, who are truly decent people, would be the first one to die and/or suffer fates like this.
I mean, it's the apocalypse, obviously people are going to act like animals, imagine if we irl have outbreak like this, people, as desperate act of survival will do ANYTHING, be it betrayal, or anything, it's just going to be ten times more terrifying and worse.
