I see many comments saying her change in attitude feels forced and unwarranted, but I disagree. Maria is the type of character that has no empathy for others whatsoever, and it's been consistently portrayed that way. She is selfish and has no regard for how her actions affect others (it's not that she doesn't understand how they do, she simply doesn't care or feels justified in pursuing her own "wants" even at the expense of other people's). She is not only not sorry to the marchioness, for wreaking her life and her marriage, but daydreams of dong the same to others. She acts like the world owes her money, and people should stop to lay a red carpet for her to walk on.
The plot holes are evident, she just doesn't care. She wants to be the center of attention and the "tragic heroine/Cinderella". It was never about being friends it was about usefulness and now she doesn't need her anymore.
You know a character is well written because you hate them. Here it's just hard to pinpoint why, because she is saying one thing but it's actually another one.
Even in the scene where she's by herself contemplating why Bianca would kill her mother, even she doesn't believe it. She just needs someone to blame and the convenient one is Bianca.
