If it was a guy constantly teasing a girl like Nagataro does it would be considered toxic regardless of how extreme the teasing is, but for some reason its okay because Nagataro is a cute girl
I actually don't think this manga is toxic, but people nowadays are really sensitive to teasing and call literally everything abusive because said behaviour wouldn't be healthy in real life(even though stuff like this is fiction! Fiction doesn't have to be like reality), so whilst reading this I couldn't helped but be irked because I know that if the roles were swapped this manga would get a shit ton of backlash for being 'abusive'. There's a ton of shoujo and yaoi manga that people always get mad about, despite not being toxic or abusive, because people have got this sensitivity when it comes to male behaviour but they don't share the same feelings when it comes to female behaviour
I honestly dont understand where u get that assumption from. In shoujo, theres plenty of male leads who tease or "bully" the main character just like her. In real life lots of girls purposely make themselves "vulnerable" so that guys would tease them.
If the rules were reversed, I think people would hate the female lead. I'm pretty sure they would 100% find her annoying for letting herself be teased.
Yes there is a ton of shoujo manga where the leads bully or tease the fl, but those types of manga, recently, tend to get hate for being toxic and for promoting unhealthy relationships.
Also I agree that they'd hate the female lead if the roles were reversed because strong female leads are encouraged and liked, but they'd also hate the male lead for teasing too much. Perhaps sensitivity isn't the word I should've used, but rather that people have different standards when it comes to male and female characters despite them acting in similar ways.
This is a really short manga so it was pretty easy for me to read up to chp 30 chapter in one setting, I also skimmed through the last few chapters just to see how their development progressed. Way to undermine something I said by claiming that I haven't read it just because it slightly goes against something you like. I stated in a comment above that I don't ACTUALLY think this manga is toxic, but I was making a general observation about how people usually respond to the 'bully' characters, and how I think there's sort of a double standard depending on the character's gender.
Sorry, I accidentally like ur comment. I am a girl and I always hate the kind of girl who's like mean girl stuff like that. But I don't hate nagatoro at all it's not because she's cute and she teased but She don't even tease him that much. Toxic my ass. If it was toxic then it will be a mangs like A girl delinquent bullying the boy that made the boy suicide. But no it is not like that at all. And they have a cute development. It clearly show that she care to him and likes him.
Poor guy lol, though I guess this is the kind of ending you'd expect a yandere story to have. I'm still not sure if she despised or loved him in the end, maybe it was both
I think she loved him so much that his happiness didn't matter to her. It was only about possessing him.
