Mistress of the estate hates FL & current leader since he was from previous marriage & she has a son. Mistress makes terrible decision that leads to ML taking over the territory. ML is interested in FL & kills Mistress + her son at her bequest. FL is very cold and calculating, ML becomes more possessive of her - his advisors think she is bad news.
