It‘s annoyingly unfortunate how much better complex plot-lines and yearning are handled in yaoi compared to josei and yuri. With both of them it somehow always feels like someone has written them by checking off boxes of tropes … the plot almost always consists of a bunch of incoherent strings tied together in a strained effort to create ANYTHING for a quick cash-grab. Save for some exceptions I have been so disappointed lately, I can‘t find anything good or unique to read even though I make an active attempt to give everything a shot. Please save me

Am I the only one who really hates guideverse stories? I have tried so often and I just can‘t get into it no matter what, the concept is so boring after a while. Can‘t believe someone said it‘s better than omegaverse

    I like guideverse as a concept but haven't enjoyed many of the titles on this site, so I get it to an extent.

    Maybe check out Approximal Guide? That was the one I personally enjoyed.

    This is why I prefer the guideverse novels more than the manhwa adaptations tbh, like in some stories they skip out a lot of important parts and scenes to make readers understand the story more. This is why I read some of them for the pretty art and that's it.

    Nah it’s not just u. I can never find myself getting into them, but tbh it’s probably more to do with the fact that they’re in some form of hunterverse a lot of the time. (I don’t like hunterverse ) but also tbh I just can’t get into any sort of ultra modern sci-fi setting normally. Also I feel like guideverse has more restrictions on what its characters can do. Like with omegaverse u can still have some creativity with settings and the characters professions. But with guideverse most of the characters already come with their traits. Like yk one is a guide, one is an esper, and those are their respective jobs. I think those restrictions make guideverse feel more repetitive.

Man, yaoi is becoming too porny :(( you read a genuinely interesting BL and suddenly you have to power through 65 smut scenes that all last over the entire chapter or throughout the span of several chapters and a hundred fwop fwops. It‘s so damn annoying

I need some more yandere webtoon recommendations ٩(๑❛ᴗ❛๑)۶ anything that has the usual „possessiveness“ tropes, or the one-night-stand one, where the seme wakes up and get‘s offended that the uke just up and left without telling him, or tries to leave in the morning and act nonchalant. Doesn‘t even have to be any of those, it could just be a normal story with a yandere uke or seme

Why do I feel like the quality of manhwas - especially in the BL genre - has rapidly declined over the last few years? Nowadays it feels like you have to sift through hundreds of stories, - with the same cutout characters, mid-ass plot and stale, soulless art style, - to get to a story that’s genuinely well thought out and enjoyable. It’s just such a shame :(((

    Yeah I agree. Also, I usually just read mangas and stay away from most bl webtoons (cus ngl, they all boring af, even the "uwu cute fluffy" ones. Same storyline, same artstyle, and just too predictable. ) with the only exception of LITC, maybe even Spinach Bouquet and a very FEW others. Also, maybe it's because I grew up with the "problematic yaoi's" of the 2000's that every toxic bl that blew up on tiktok is just... Two dudes having a small fit and that I'm just baffled that a slight misunderstanding and the two characters making up is considered deep. Yeah, sure, why not ig. Where is the uniqueness? Where is the DRAMA that will wreck and reroute the trajectory of my life?? Where is the new bl that will punch me in the gut with interesting characters that I will have hyperfixation for a whole year. Or atleast, even if its supposed to be lighthearted, find a good balance cus istg these are all boring af. Idk man. Maybe it's cause I'm old and already read a lot that everything seems to be copy pasted. Or maybe everything is copy-pasted because that's what sells best. Can't really tell which is the case. I still go back to my old bl's from back in the day man. Those were the days.

    i would recommend you REUNION its SO GOOD its one of those hidden gems i came across while scrolling on this page which is surprising considering most bls that show up on the main page are shit

    i feel like this problem will come hand in hand with oversaturation, regardless of genre. this happened with the dungeons/system type stories too. there was solo leveling and then there are hundreds of copycats. (imo sl isnt even that good, was just one of the first that reached diverse audience). with so many stories getting pumped out, i dont think authors have the time to actually think about creating a unique plot. and as long as there's smut and good looking art, majority of the readers simply do not care.
