you know i genuinely think people are too harsh with the mother because she made a lot of mistakes in her past life (clearly) but she is very genuinely trying correct herself in a realistic fashion she doesn't just immediately get their lives together and start doting on mc she instead gets so focused on making sure her daughter will never have to suffer that same fate that she did in her original life and then neglected mc a bit and when mc makes that known the mother actually apologies and starts paying more attention to her (i forgot their names mb for all the mc mother stuff)
