I think that virginity is taken too lightly these days. People are so extra these days, as a dark skinned female I think this is not racist in the slightest. There are tribes where I come from and I think this has been portrayed beautifully. People take cultural appropriation too far, yes using something from another religion that is sacred is a terrible thing to do but stuff like wearing traditional clothes or writing about them (as long as it is accurate and not rude) is completely fine. I actually was so happy and felt represented seeing dark skinned people being shown as beautiful.
