I initially avoided this series because the main characters seemed to follow the typical size dynamic where the uke is childlike and slender, while the seme is overly tall and muscular. This trope is common in omegaverse and guides & sentinels stories, often resulting in themes of inequality, discrimination, intimate partner violence, unrealistic sex, lack of consent, and generally toxic relationships—elements I strongly dislike.
I prefer stories where the uke is as tall or taller than the seme, equally masculine, and not oversexualized or portrayed as overly feminine. Despite my reservations, I decided to give "Love is an Illusion! - Superstar" a chance, and I’m glad I did! Both main characters are alphas, with no stereotypical omega trope in sight, making it a refreshing and enjoyable read.

Nevermind, it turned out to have this incredibly cringe thrope: a dumb and clueless uke x stupid and and stubborn seme. And that girl that's harassing our boy, she's worse than any antagonist I've ever encountered. Hopefully she transfers schools or something, because I'm dropping this if she's not out of the picture soon. (15.3.2025)
