What got me out of a slump was
Darkness before the Dawn
its set in the Kowloon Walled City, which is this fascinating megacompact city in the 1970s Hongkong. The history and formation itself is alr interesting (as an archi student) but the story is as interesting. It shows the city from the lens of its residents. Its culture, way of life, relationships, the crime, the memories, the solidarity of the people etc. the characters are also complex, 3 dimensionals. The angst is angsty, the visual is visualizing (and from real references so accurate af) and i cried at the end (it ended good tho… somewhat)
