So my classmate (he's a boy) dmed me, and send me a tiktok yaoi vid and he ask me if i know them and i said yes. Then i said to my sister that i have this classmate who also read yaoi and she said maybe he's a bisexual, and i said idk, i have a boy friend and he also read yaoi but he's straight. And she dont believe in me. She look at me like she's about to vomit and we start arguing that straight guys can also read yaoi, am i right? is she homophobic?
I think that you can read yaoi even if your straight. Your sexuality shouldn't really affect what your interest are. She could be homophobic, but at the same time she could just find it odd how your guy friend is straight and reads yaoi.
Yeah straight guys can also read yaoi, but it's very uncommon i guess. There's no requirement on what things people can be interested in. Though it's also possible for bi/gay/ace people to repress their sexuality so they feel like they're "straight" but they're actually not.
Honestly though, everyone who i know who likes BL/GL are usually LGBTQ+. My straight friends usually just aren't that interested or don't care much so they don't actively seek out gay romances?
As for your friend, I'm not sure why she's disgusted. Hopefully she isn't homo/biphobic lol.
it’s almost like saying gays can’t watch/read hetero stuff. either way it shouldn’t matter what their sexuality is for them to enjoy what they want.
The only thing that can make a person gay or bisexual is then actually being gay or bisexual. Literally nothing else
