I think Kirino’s canonically trans. One may say that Mishima should’ve been depicted as trans as well which is understandable since he liked to cross-dress and that he only felt like himself during those nights. However, he never used female pronouns to refer to himself unlike what Kirino did, and by the end we get to see that he’s perfectly content being seen as a man who engages in drag. But Kirino on the other hand, not only does she prefer female pronouns BUT she’s shown to be insecure and jealous of Mishima’s feminine physique, which also prompted her to bully him for looking like “a girl” and that it’s making her sick. She’s projecting her insecurities onto him, hating that a boy’s gifted with such a girly body— while she’s here all tall and fawned over by girls, handsome with a cool disposition. Kirino mentions Thailand all the time, which is a country known to offer countless gender-reaffirming surgeries and I’m certain that’s what drew her in, besides the wide-spread acceptance of queerness there. The ending, oh boy, was poignantly bittersweet. She chose this path for herself (I’m not even sure if I should refer to her with female pronouns now since she decided to live as a man— identity as a man.) she gave up her identity to live her mother’s dreams as a married man, complete wife and a daughter. I honesty have no idea what Kirino’s feeling right now. Did this decision truly make her happy? Is true happiness found in fulfilling a loved ones desires? Was her smile worth losing a part of herself? Maybe more than a part even.
THESE KINDS OF MISUNDERSTANDINGS ARE THE BEST!! Definitely prefer it over the “angsty” ones THEY DO NOTHING BUT FRUSTRATE ME
I can read these mangas many times! I rate them >9.5/10 based on my own preferences, so there will be lots of non-mainstream BL

It isnt really "shonen" . But it just got "that feel" you know what i mean?? It's hard to explain. It's different than your typical yaoi. These authors have a really distinctive artstyle. If not very simplistic, its very stylized... Yknow, it's just those kind of BL where you dont mind any plot as long as the delivery, the atmosphere and the vibe is good. well, at least in my opinion.
Unique and unusual BL's
This list is in order from my most favourite to my least favourite
Was I the only one who got super emotional and even cried a few times? Idk what’s about this manga that really moved me aside from how I FUCKING LOVE SAKURAI SM ARGGHG HE DESERVES MORE ISTG. As for Jyousei, it sucked that we didn’t get to see his point of view or any visible character development besides realising his feelings and feeling a tad bit of remorse. He was mostly an enigma throughout the whole story. The second love interest I definitely fcked with. And his little comment at the end about “almost got serious” HURT ME, cause compared to Jyousei he was far more considerate and caring. I mean, the main pairing I dont hate, but it would have been better if they didn’t rush into being in a relationship then getting it on right after prom as if that talk about using sakurai as a “hole” never happened. Jyousei’s confession could have been better tbh. But to sum it all up, I absolutely loved this SHSHSJSJSJ despite its flaws.
