As the second season began the mc’s mask changed. At first, I thought it was a new artist, but the art wasn’t actually different, so did I just miss something and he changed his mask, or the artist just decided to change it out of the blue?

I think the artist either just drew a new mask without realizing it wasn't the same one. Or it was just intended, he has a new mask. There isn't an explanation for it.
