Last time I read this I was seriously so furious and tired of Yamada's behaviour but I've reread this again since then and my opinion has slightly shifted.
So far (from what i remember), akane has been introduced to 4 girls that made her insecure and jealous (Yamada's girl classmate that liked him, rurihime princess that Akane thought was a girl, the girl in college, and then now Alex). Correct me if im wrong btw
While Yamada has been introduced by 3 guys that had the potential to make him jealous or have made him jealous (the guy akane worked with , the boy Akane meets in FOS, and Akane's childhood friend), which btw Yamada has only shown discomfort towards Akane's childhood friend.
I get that he's the nonchalant gamer type who has troubles sensing other people's emotions, but i really thought that he'd grow to be able to sense them, like idk to be more sensitive? Character growth? Since it was shown in the beginning as something he had troubles with.
Since we are mainly viewing this on Akane's POV, i sort of feel how she's feeling (e.g, not wanting to be overbearing or the insecurity of not knowing much about his field of interest which is gaming and having a girl in his field which he talks to for hours every night) it wasnt brought up if she felt scared she might get cheated on again but then anyway the author wrapped up the problem in a hurry.
At this point of the story we hardly get any alone time with the both of them. It'd be nice if the story just focused on them both for a while. Like what were the both of them thinking when akane discoverd he's been talking to a girl for hours daily, and when yamada got told it made her uncomfortable and him figuring out how akane exactly feels (in depth), Instead of the author summarizing what happened quickly in a few panels and then quickly them being with their own friends apart from eachother.
It feels like the author had no plans and is just throwing in new characters to stir the plot. It'd be nice to see Yamada YEARN for Akane, but we know that yamada is just the type of person who doesn't show much and we have to accept him for that.
Conclusion: it's the author's fault ( ◜‿◝ )♡
