To quote him directly, "Your sorry little situation was starting to mess with my needs, think of it as an advance." He transferred Dan's debt to himself as collector, where he uses sex as repayment. that's not sympathy, he's all for himself, he "helps" Dan when it's beneficial to him.
That's his excuse. Jaekyung doesn't like people to know he's actually a softy and sweetheart.
