Came back to finish this absolutely wonderful story, but I'm on the section where MC is reuniting with his mum and it's all "heartwarming" and stuff, and I can't. This woman left her 10 year old son in the hands of a physcially and emotionally abusive father. It was her responsibility to get her AND her child out of that situation, and she only saved herself. It's incredibly selfish and makes her entirely complicit in the abuse he suffered.

Okay, I'm still on the fence about Riftan (on ch103 currently) but can I just say--OH my GAWD I absolutely love the different magical creatures we're getting?! Like, harpies and kelpies?! I've literally NEVER seen any representation of these in manhwa, and even the goblins are on the more unique side, I'm loving it!
ALSO, Maxi's dresses??? Bascially ALL of them are 10/10 classy fantasy bangers that are just beautiful, whereas so often in fantasy/historical manhwa the dresses are tacky AF. Just another way this manhwa shows it's quality
Hey guys, I'm currently on season 2 of this and I have to ask--does Riftan get better? Right now he is incredibly repressive and unsuportive and is undermining Maxi's already incredibly low sense of self-worth. She has something that she's clearly passionate about (magic) and wants to help people, and his reaction is rage/shouting/aggressive physical behaviour. And she only gets to continue because he "gives her permission." It's all leaving a really bad taste in my mouth, so I gotta know--PLEASE tell me this man works through his own shit and actually becomes a supportive husband who is happy for his wife to gain some independence
