So like just thinking about our mc giving the curtains to the duke and realistically I feel like for me at least if I gave someone something and they had such a visceral reaction to it like it triggered something (which it did to the duke) I would say sorry and take the gift back and ask if there's some other way I could make it up to them.
Obviously tho our MC wasn't purposely trying to trigger the duke and she did it out of the sincerity of her heart and also like she tried to fix it with the stars and the Duke as the knight understood her feelings behind the gift but I feel like maybeeee she should've just tried to do something else instead of doing the stars on the curtain since he was so against it considering it literally made him think about his trauma and abuse?

I think she should've just *stopped pushing* after he clearly didn't like the gift. Like, she was SO MAD after he simply told her he didn't like the gift, and she pushed him to an uncomfortable degree, and he felt like he had to tell her about his years of abuse to make her go away. Bad! Dont do that how about? Just take a rejection.
Yeahh that's how I feel too like she chased after him after he said like no I don't like the gift and don't do stuff I don't like aka going into my room and touching my stuff which honestly seems very reasonable especially considering her position as a hostage and he's still suspicious of her since she's a stranger and he doesn't know her motives yet. She was very pushy and when she didn't get the reaction she expected to get, she flipped out which is kind of low-key a red flag, seeing as she isn't able to take rejections or even just simple criticism honestly
I think you guys are wrong to an extent. He was too angry. He invited her to eat to humiliate her, she asked why he didn't like her gift (a normal thing to ask), but he was so irritable from lack of sleep that he snapped at her and trauma dumped on her. As someone who has insomnia, irrational anger is an unfortunately common symptom. He even states that he was being too sensitive because he's THAT tired.
Should she have backed off after he snapped at her? Sure. But the whole 'making things right via action rather than words' might just be a cultural thing. Her thought process is also probably just different from ours.
It could very well be that the old curtains were thrown out and there's nothing but the blackout ones, so she worked the fastest she could to find a solution. ╮(￣▽￣)╭
