nice palate cleanser after reading so many reincarnation/transmigration historical manhwas lol.... I've always felt slightly uncomfortable with this idea of one personality over the body of another & i feel like this manga at least explores some of the stakes that that might actually entail....

also I find myself sympathizing w ppl who were irritated w rin (author commentary said that he was the most popular character by a lot.... really??? (￣∇￣")) but I do think a lot of this manga's themes are around forgiveness (forgiving others and forgiving urself)... in that sense mokuren's love for shion is pretty irrational lmao but isn't that part of what makes it so beautiful?? & her forgiveness of him despite everything what makes her what he needs most in the end? forgiving isnt necessarily forgetting but its what allows ppl to move on from the past...

Dropped bc I feel like this dynamic is all wrong… these manhwas always have one main character chasing after the other to advance the story but i hate that it’s the MC that is seeking forgiveness from the ML and not the other way around. I get what ppl r saying that she’s forcing him to relive his trauma over and over again but this is addressed in the story… in fact the ENTIRE story addresses this by having her do all of this labor to help him get over the past, whereas what I and what I think a lot of other ppl r frustrated abt is that HER trauma is completely glossed over. What would have been more interesting and satisfying would be if the power dynamic was switched & once he realizes he has feelings for her, he has to come to the realization of what exactly he has DONE to her by killing her in each of their past lives & then actually reckon with it. Where SHE now has the power to withhold forgiveness & he has to convince her. Whereas it feels like the ML has the power this entire time & it’s very frustrating she’s literally bending over backwards to please this guy 24/7!!

Instead of the dynamic switching, the story chooses to make the conflict an external one (ppl outside of them r trying to keep them apart) rather than internal which is so uninteresting (I usually don’t enjoy love triangles but making the fiance straight up irredeemably evil was so boring!!!! He at least could’ve been a friend to the MC so she has someone she can rely on besides the ML, the source of her trauma?! She basically only has him, which is a whole other problem) & why does her being in love mean she can’t also be traumatized and fearful at the same time?? I feel like that kind of dynamic where she might love him/pity him but also involuntarily still feels some kind of fear when he’s nearby could’ve been so good and angsty guys…… ugh the potential

This was pretty good but fell off a little bit once they actually fell in love lol I wanted more angst especially after the season 1 cliffhanger but also I say that abt every historical manhwa ever am I just a bad person????? My chasing arc….. ╥﹏╥

But it’s worth reading… I will say I would recommend trying to read the official translation if u can I eventually switched over to webtoon ver. bc the translations here are a bit rough (definitely not the worst I’ve ever read tho lmao). It’s still readable but you will miss some things most likely

Why r they in love? lol maybe I missed something but it seems like the ml’s obsession stems from her being able to cure his headaches and nothing more… tbh I’m more interested in how they fall in love than the misunderstandings/mutual pining/whatever usually comes afterwards in these sorts of manhwa so I’m going to drop (￣∇￣")

It’s pretty clear that the artist likely had a limit to how many chapters they could do & was running out of space to fully draw the story (so some less important scenes r skipped over, ex. Hann checking the crystal to see how neyphanta’s barrier can be countered) but some of the things that didn’t make the cut are kind of odd, considering they continued to be foreshadowed even a couple of chapters before the end of the manhwa… like riella’s entire backstory?? Hello??? As late as ch. 90 riella mentions investigating why the eschella necklace is drawn to her (which I guess u can brush off as it being destiny as it required her glowing flowers to transform into whatever deus ex machina gemstone thing that was at the end but that still leaves a TON of open questions) but it makes me think that the artist was only informed last minute that they had a couple of chapters to wrap up the story… which is a shame #－.－)

Was good but got very standard shounen by the end which isn’t a bad thing necessarily but I was expecting something else…. Wish they maintained the same sort of creepy atmosphere as when he answers the phone for the questionnaire!! & the lady starts yelling at him…. That was very unsettling!!
