it's actually kinda crazy, how easily the author visualizes the perspective of children when it comes to fitting in. like i think the author captures multiple perspectives so easily, and they FEEL like kids who are just learning how to make friends, all of them. it's strange how out of everything, it's the actual look at kids and how they talk and think and see each other that shines here. it's not just the main cast- even bg characters show slight age variances and representations of youth
