Okay okay maybe this is just me but... in literal it was rape but if you take into account their feelings and emotions i think the FL was flustered since she was caught off guard by the ML being aggressive. I dont think the author meant any harm in projecting this part of the story since they really just showed a more in dept connection of the characters as humans with lapse of judgements. It actually depends on the reader but for others its not that big of a deal since most novels and stories are similar to this scenario.

That's why it irks me so much that Malicious Empress doesn't have a manhua. That has to be one of the few Chinese stories in which the ML actually waits for expressed VERBAL consent, before sleeping with the MC. He waits years for her to feel comfortable enough, even for a long time after they are already married, and never has another concubine or an harem of any kind while he's courting her and after their wedding. There's is so many trash stories out there and yet this doesn't have a manhua? It pisses me off every time.
But anyways, another one in which there's no rape is Holy Chef, Crazy Empress. They sleep together because they both want to, and he even understands when she wants to leave him because of his harem, and doesn't pressure her or coerces her into staying.
Also in that vein, Best-selling Empress is also pretty consent-ish (there's no verbal expression of it and the girl's a bit flustered at first, but she expresses to herself that she had considered sleeping with him all along. The ML also dissolves his harem so that she can be his only wife)
And A Beauty, Fatal Concubine, they haven't slept together but the relationship is pretty respectful, with the girl being more of the dominant voice in their romantic development.

I initially liked your comment and then read further. Nope. The rape was totally unnecessary and perpetuates this trope that because the FL 'let it happen' that it is acceptable.
No.
1) He's still lying to her about his true self, so she can't give full consent anyway.
2) He forcefully and aggressively raped her.
3) He faced no accountability or punishment.
What does that mean for wider society? Or for a young person reading this?
It tells them rape is acceptable. That rape is 'fine' if it's *insert nonsense excuse* here.
It was rape in every sense of the word and webcomics like this perpetuate and legitimise this issue.
Where do you guys read the translated novel? Like the most updated ones???
