Actually he got cancer...stage 4 so og giryeo terminally ill and only have selfish mother....who abandoned him...its sad tbh his lore in the novel...more realistic if you ask me...

he had crippling depression sadly. bc of his depression he has developed memory lapses so bc of that he couldn't remember even such things as if he eaten today. his death is really terrifying and sad. as our giryeo said he was dying alone for 16 hours in that empty flat.
as for above comment orig giryeo didn't know about his cancer. and for your comment about mother: our giryeo will meet that bitch. she called him first and that call triggered orig giryeo hidden memory. our giryeo was really pissed at her and sadly he couldn't kill her (he really wanted to) since orig giryeo didn't wish for her death. o! giryeo was really a kind soul - in his death he didn't fault anyone even his dumb mother and only was sad that he couldn't donate his organs (that wish came true with mc reincarnation).
but worry not! revenge will still be held. in that meeting mc threatened the bitch so that she wouldn't meddle with him. but since she is desperate for money she didn't listen. so after some time mc will put her into hospital. permanently lol.
