Kind of interesting how characters that have the power to turn back time always end up slowly losing their humanity over time. as they continually grow in power by increasing the number of iterations of “the present” they experience, any single “present” loses significance beyond gathering intel to achieve a particular “future”. if that is what becomes of your relationship with time, then it makes sense they would lose their capacity to connect with other people in any one of those present moments they are sort of just passing through again. Even if you start as an innately empathetic and social person, going through that is inherently isolating and jarring. No one can understand it, stakes change, significance of the “here and now” changes as you’re no longer tethered to it or its constraints, you inevitably become untethered to others and you are destined to live disingenuously forever bc if people do know, they will never fully be able to trust that you haven’t redone the moment and aren’t manipulating them. The power may actually be more of a curse than a blessing.
