Tbh "wouldn't even make the news" is a nice line that the author put, NOT NICE LIKE COOL, nice as in realistic, he shouldn't have said that to uke (i dont remember if he did, I dont think he did, but if he did thats messed up)
irl, theres sooo many talented athletes who are disabled and/or girls who 100010% deserve recognition but realistically won't coz A) its so common and B) most ppl would rather watch/talk about "the alphas" (irl able-bodied men)
That's just the society we live in as wrong and messed up as it is, him thinking/saying "wouldn't even make the news" is just him pointing it out
THERE IS A LOT TO HATE ON HIM FOR THAT I AGREE WITH, but him saying that isn't one of them
